Slovakia is embarked on the mission to bring the finest and most effective hospital designs and technology. Next Generation Hospital project (NGH) is a key event for Slovak health care system, integrating design, qualified management and personnel, modern health care technologies and private financial capital.
International architects were invited to submit their credentials through a restricted request for qualifications process. The Committee evaluated firms based on their ability to address the principal goals and objectives of the building project: to create a flexible, economically effective and patient oriented next generation hospital. 4 international and experienced design teams were shortlisted to design what will be Slovakia’s next generation hospital. Bratislava and Michalovce are set to be the first two cities to include this innovative hospital concept which will serve over 300,000 people.
Rafael de La-Hoz, due to the practice’s ‘vast and innovative knowledge of hospitals’, was brought in to design a beautiful, cutting-edge facility that incorporated the best ideas in healthcare planning and patient care.
The proposals for both cities, not only were visually stimulating but also sensitive, environmentally-oriented and respectful of their surrounding developments. The concept especially considered how improved hospital design can optimise socialization, staff workflow and allow for optimal delivery of healthcare, and increase effectiveness in delivering care, improve patient safety, reduce patient and family stress and improve outcomes and improve overall healthcare quality.
